(1957–) Vicken Parsons' paintings characteristically depict architectural interiors and landscapes, executed in thin layers of oil paint on thick wooden board. These interior spaces are not derived from observation, rather they are remembered or imagined, rendered in a muted palette with occasional flashes of yellow, blue, orange or white.

Parsons's sculptures are on a similar scale to her painted works, utilising the same thick wooden board and reduced palette. These sculptures are made from steel blocks; rectangular in form and differing in scale. They explore our perception of physical and spatial relationships, and are suggestive of cityscapes viewed from above which, we might imagine, contain the kind of interior spaces we see portrayed in the paintings.

Vicken Parsons studied at the Slade School of Fine Art. Exhibitions of her work have included New Art Centre, Salisbury, Tate St Ives and Christine König Galerie, Vienna. She lives and works in London.
