THE EDUCATIONAL TRUST

The Roche Court Educational Trust is an independent arts education charity based at the beautiful New Art Centre sculpture park and gallery in Wiltshire.

Inspired by the modern and contemporary internationally acclaimed artists shown in our landscaped grounds, we work with children, young people and teachers to develop confidence by looking, thinking and speaking about art.

Through our guided tours we believe in making connections across disciplines and values, the conversations held here provide a rounded understanding and enjoyment of modern art and sculpture.

Tours are led by our enthusiastic educators who have an in depth knowledge and understanding of modern and contemporary art. Visits are designed to support your learning objectives and curriculum aims.

The artworks at New Art Centre and Roche Court Sculpture Park are displayed in a number of outdoor and indoor spaces including the Sculpture Park, Gallery, Design House and Artists House. The New Art Centre exhibits over 60 internationally renowned and emerging artists, showing a changing programme of artwork from 1950 to the present day. Major exhibitions have included work by Barbara Hepworth, Richard Long, Michael Craig-Martin, Anthony Caro and Antony Gormley.

All group visits must be booked in advance with a small charge per head.

This year any child that comes back after having a visit with us and introduces another member of their family to Roche Court will be awarded with a special Roche Court Ambassador badge.  This is designed to make our audiences feel attached to the art they discover here, and for them to feel that it is their duty to pass on their knowledge to their generation and future generations to come.

“The tour of the park offered at Roche Court was engaging and well paced. Students were engaged by open questioning and keen to take part in a process that supported students’ attempts to delve deeper into the art work’s meaning…

The work students undertook and the opportunities to engage verbally and practically with the artwork has ensured students make clear progress towards the national curriculum requirements.”

Andrew Wilson, Head of Art, Theale Green Community School
