(1967 –) Gavin Turk's work often deals with issues of authorship, authenticity and originality. He was denied an MA certificate from the Royal College of Art for presenting at his degree show, an English Heritage plaque bearing the inscription 'Borough of Kensington Gavin Turk Sculptor Worked Here 1989-1991' in an otherwise empty studio space.

He has subsequently made work which questions the idea and integrity of a consistent artistic persona. He has paraphrased already well-known works of art from the recent past examining the idea of genius, the concept of the signature, style and what constitutes a marketable identity. His exhibition et in arcadia eggo was held in the gallery at the New Art Centre in 2003, and We Are One in 2014-15.

Recent solo exhibitions include; Seven Billion Two Hundred and One Million Nine Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand and-Two Hundred and Thirty-Eight, Bowes Museum, County Durham (2014); CAC Malaga, Spain (2010); Almine Rech, Paris (2010); Turkey Foil, Aurel Scheibler, Berlin (2009); Jazzz, Sean Kelly, New York (2009); The Mirror Stage, Goodman Gallery, Cape Town, South Africa (2009).

Group exhibitions include: Lifelike, Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix, USA (2014); Britain Creates 2012: Fashion + Art Collusion, V&A, London (2012); Magritte and Light, Almine Recch, Paris, France (2009); Pop Life: Art in a Material World, Tate Modern, London (2009).
